Dreamweaver file P5

M2 & M3

Above is my homepage, it shows one of the biggest films out this year so that viewers can see the most appealing that they might want to see.

The image above is the buy films page, this shows the viewers what the films are about in order to give them information whether this is the film that they want to buy or watch.

My website now clearly works on the internet, I have create a button to go from the homepage to buy films. As you can see in the first picture when the mouse is hovered over buy films it changed color showing that it can be clicked to go that page.

My website has all the pictures will are previewed in the images, they show the titles and parts of the films that the users might be renting or buying. I tested my website to ensure that all the buttons functioned properly and that it is usable.

When designed my web pages I used layers in order to allow me to move all the items to where I wanted them situated. This tool was good because it meant I could move items without any problems and it helped me to layout my website better. I also used 'Iexplore' in order to preview my website on the browser to see if it all worked how it should and to see how it looked.

M1

Web 2.0 - The most popular technologies used in delivering web 2.0 are Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight and Javascript. It makes it easier to for a server to download more pages and information by sharing the workload, making heavily demanded work more accessible.

Blogs - A blog is a small website or web page that is usually run by a small group of people. They are usually interesting and are more informal than professional websites as they usually don't need to be professional. They usually link to other sites or news pieces creating an online type of diary.

Online applications - These are application than are run on the web, things such as games are types of online applications. These are usually interesting for the user or can be helpful e.g. online presentations are a type of online application too.

Cloud computing - There are many benefits to cloud computing such as they can manage files easily, they have almost infinite space so the capacity is almost never a problem and they can be accessed from anywhere as long as there is some internet connection. Cloud computing is somewhere that you can access your information and applications and data can be stored securely. They are very useful for companies to run their software because they are very reliable and they will always keep the important information secure and ready to be restored in case of an emergency.

Unit 28 - P2 & P3

User Side Factors

Download Speed - This is the speed in which your technology will download files. There are lots of factors that can cause downloads to take a while. If there is lots of people downloading the same file then it could take longer because the programme will be working harder and will be connecting to more than one person. Download speed is different on different laptops depending on the quality of each one. Smaller files will download the quickest e.g. a small JPEG will download instantly whereas a big file will take longer.

PC Performance - Depending on the age and condition of the laptop, this is what will affect the performance. If the computer is newer and has up to date technology in it then it will perform better. I need to make sure that my website isn't too large for the computer and the items on it are suitable for all computers so everyone can look on the site.

Server Side Factors

Web Server Capacity - This is how many people can be on the website at once e.g. twitter has a very good web server capacity as thousands of people are on it all day everyday. A smaller website will take longer to open because it has a smaller scale. The bandwidth is the amount of technology than can connect to a web server. JPEGs are one of the suitable files that download the quickest, files such as mp3 sometimes don't download and take a while because they need plug ins and additional assistance to help them function. The execution is how quick pages load and end, on a website like twitter it is instant but on a smaller website the website might take a while to load certain things.

File Types - The larger a file type the longer it will take to load, this is because the computer will be working harder. Files such as JPEGs will load instantly, these are things such as images. I will make sure that I use JPEGs if I want images as it will mean that load time is quicker for all users as not everyone has fast internet connection.

P6 evaluation

How it is fit for purpose

I think that the GoPro product is fit for purpose because it is clear, looks professional and shows all the things that need to be included for my target audience. It also works well; it does this by changing page when it should and showing the correct information on each page.

Why the media elements are appropriate and why it is professional

All of the media elements are linked to the product, they show what the GoPro is capable of by having 4K resolution images on it. This shows the audience what they can do and why it would be suitable for them. The media elements are all images, there is no video included in the product. The colour and fonts are very professional and stay the same throughout the whole product.

Does it work without errors or broken links?

The product works very well, when supposed to change it does it without any problems, this shows that the links are all correct and that the product is functioning the way it should be. So far there have been no errors on the product.

5 amendments that could be done to the product

1. Add some original images
2. Add more animation
3. Allow the buttons on each page to work
4. Make the logo in the top corner go to home when clicked
5. Edit some of the images

P3

The slide below shows the first page of my product. I have created the GoPro logo by myself on Adobe Photoshop which meant that I didn't need to contact the organisation to get permission as it was created by me and not copied. I have used a different font that looks very similar to the original one that is used on their website. The font I used was Neuropol, as this font does look very similar to the original logos it would mean that I might need to gain permission for copyright for legal reasons.

The image with the 3 cameras is from the GoPro official website (http://gopro.com/). I can use this image because it states on the privacy policy of the website that the images on the website can be used for online purposes. The other 3 images on my product are going to be original images as I have taken some of a GoPro to add to my product which means the images are mine so no permission will be needed.

The image below shows the third page of my product. The images on this page have been downloaded from a 4K resolution images application. This means that I can use them because permission has been given to provider by the person who took the images for personal use.

The image below shows the last page of my product, on this page there will be an original video that i will take or use with a GoPro to show the quality of the product. I will have to gain permission if I use a video someone else has created.

Unit 43 - P1

Produce a blogger entry to show your understanding of the different types of media that could be used in the creation of the product. Reference should be made to how the media will meet the organisations objectives and how the media is fit for purpose in terms of meeting the needs of the intended audience. A good range of different audience types should be included.

The main audience for my product is young adults. This is because they might be travelling more and taking part in lots of different types of sport. My product will be good and useful for capturing all their moments whilst they are participating in things such as sport, leisure and travelling. The purpose for my product is to advertise GoPro, 4K resolution cameras. I need to make sure that it is appealing and shows the capability of the product.

Multimedia

A multimedia product uses a combination of images, words and sounds to present information. Multimedia is being used more in education, advertising and entertainment. There are many different types of multimedia such as computer games, websites and DVDs. These all use text, sound, images and videos to present information. The combination of these single media items together is 'multimedia'.

Types of Multimedia

Sound - I will use sound in this project when doing things such as making adverts. Sound will help me to present information and help people understand what the advert is about.

Animation - Animation will be used in this project because it will allow me to advertise and promote things in the organisation that I want people to see. If I make animations it might appeal more because the person can simply watch it and receive information.

Still and moving images - Still and moving images will be used throughout the project to show what the organisation is about and will help to show objectives and requirements in the organisation. Images will make people more likely look at the organisations as it will make it more fascinating.

Business requirements

Business requirements allow organisations to show what they are looking for in employees. It means that they can more easily select the types of people that they want working for them because they are more successful in the organisation. Business requirements change depending on which job a person is going for e.g. someone looking for a job as a teacher will need good speaking skills as they will have to present information to students regularly.

Target audience - Target audience is important because this is the group of people that I want to see the organisation. If I didn't have a target audience it would be hard to market the product because I would have to do it to a large scale of people. Having a target audience will make it easier for the company because they can find out what attracts this audience and what they would be interested in, this can help the company to advertise and catch people eye.

Purpose - The purpose of multimedia is to allow people to create and view things in a 3D graphical form, this is to satisfy the needs of users. The purpose of business requirements is to make people know what they would need to do if they want to work or get involved with a business.

Platform - Platforms are used to help business advertise their product. They can use lots of different platforms such as computers, TVs and billboards etc. They are important because they need to choose the correct platform for the correct market e.g. advertising for grandparents wouldn't be good online because older people don't use the internet that much. Platforms can have lots of advantages if they are used the right way.

Business objectives

Business objectives are what an organisation sets up to they have goals to achieve, these goals are linked to the success of the business. The organisation will need to link these objectives to their multimedia product to make it more successful and to make the objectives achievable. For example if a business wants to promote their business they will make a poster or leaflet that can be seen by the audience  they are marketing the product for.

Audience

The business will need to make sure that they have a researched and appropriate target market for their product. this will help them to make it suit that audience which is the aim for getting them to see the product, this is because it is appealing to them. If they have a good. One good way of linking a product to the correct market is by creating an audience profile. This includes age, gender, culture, race, class and business and interests. This will help a product be linked to the correct people.
